about

I bought a homeless man a cheeseburger in Chicago. He was grateful and a kind man. I was living in Uptown / Ravenswood area of North Chicago. Once a man tried to sell me crack outside my front door. He had yellow eyes. Our conversation went like this,

Man: You want some crack?
Me: No thank you.
Man: You lookin for a good time? I got some girls...
Me: No thank you.
Man: You got a dollar?
Me: No thank you, have a good night!

Chicago can be funny. Black and white, Sleepwalkers and Sleektalkers, crack and cocaine, no money and too much money-- living across the street from each other. 99.9% the exact same creature. I wonder what aliens think when they look down on us. Maybe it's something like this...

Alien A: What are they doing?
Alien B: I think the majority are collecting paper and giving it to a tiny fraction of the populace in exchange for the necessities of living.
A: But there is so many more creatures doing all the work for the benefit of a chosen few. Why don't they work for themselves? Why don't they rebel and make the seemingly royal creatures wipe their own asses?
B: Hmm. I don't know, good question

about

Mark Verne Sitka, Alaska

On February 28th, 2008 I left Chicago mapless. I jumped on a tall ship to Alaska.
My music reflects the transition of city to country, from traditional to unconventional, from food-dependency to food-security. From monkey mind to the pursuit of peace of mind. Words are the tools with which I spelunk my mind, tune up my soul, celebrate life, explore the intangible, and say the unsaid. ... more
